MEGAPHON
Illustrations for magazin MEGAPHON. Normal & Kids issue.
MEGAPHON is a street magazine and social initiative. The megaphone offers people opportunities for social advancement. The initiative does not hand out alms, but relies on work as the key to integration. Half of the sales price remains with the vendors. The majority of the vendors are people with a migration and/or escape background.

Title: More than just a magazine
Inspired by the cover of the first issue of MEGAPHON from 1995, which shows a salesman selling a magazine to a woman on the street, my digital drawing focuses on the moment of handover. Instead of the entire figures, only their hands are visible—a deliberate reduction to emphasize the essence of the exchange.
The magazine in the drawing symbolizes more than just printed paper. Plants grow out of it, representing hope and development. They also symbolize the diversity of the magazine. A smiley face represents the good feeling that comes from human connection, and the rainbow reinforces the joy and connection.
These elements illustrate that buying a street magazine is not just an economic transaction, but also an act of solidarity and mutual respect. It is a gesture that builds social bridges and promotes community.
With this reinterpretation, I want to highlight the deeper meaning of such everyday encounters and remind us how small gestures can have a big impact.
